A city's civility is intrinsically tied to the wellbeing of the city's residents. Wuhan has been selected as a national civilized city for the past nine years and it is striving to earn a "national demonstration city" title.
The "national demonstration civilized city" title is the upgraded version of the national civilized city. In recent days, the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has been committed to improving locals' civility, the living environment, and city functions in order to help Wuhan win the title.
Government functional departments responsible for market supervision and regulation, city management, and housing have been coordinating efforts to address weak links and problems they have found related to city management, traffic order, farm produce markets, construction areas, property management, fire safety, areas around campuses, and transportation services.
Volunteers and law enforcement teams of Zhuankou Street have patrolled the main business districts and roads and added or changed promotional posts in 355 sites. Zhuanyang sub-district established 232 "Protect the Plants" signs and made 780 public service advertisement boards, while Shamao sub-district arranged for volunteers to hand out national civilized city-themed questionnaires at communities and stores.
