Fan Shujian, first-level inspector of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, urged the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) to adhere to innovation-driven principles and maintain its edge in the intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industry during his visit to the zone on Aug 4.
WEDZ has been devoted to the development of a smart city and the ICV industry in recent years by undertaking three related projects from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, respectively. It has also established 106 kilometers of test road for intelligent road network vehicle demonstrations and applications and formed six national, industrial and local standards for high-precision maps, high-precision positioning, and road intelligentization.
In addition, the ICV closed-loop test site in Junshan New City boasts 10 scenario testing areas, four laboratory clusters and the first F4 international race track in Central China. WEDZ will soon establish the most advanced and most full-fledged ICV testing system for the site.
Fan urged the zone to make more efforts to develop a basic autonomous driving platform and vehicle operating system, create a public vehicle testing service platform, and find new ways to transform the automobile industry, upgrade the transport sector, and develop into a smart city.
