Liu Ziqing, secretary of the working committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), and Tang Chao, director of the zone's administrative committee, visited the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on July 28, discussing construction work on the university's Junshan campus (a new campus of the university devoted to international education and sci-tech innovation).
The project agreement was signed on May 18, with the first phase of construction to occupy an area of 450,000 square meters and accommodate 10,000 students upon completion. The project is expected to be launched this year and finish in September 2024, and has been listed as one of the provincial key projects.
You Zheng, president of HUST, hailed the new campus as not only a strategic layout for HUST to become a world-class university, but also a channel for the university to deepen collaboration with the WEDZ government, and promised to prioritize the demands from the zone's major enterprises, and form an industry-education integrated schooling mechanism.
Liu Ziqing emphasized the importance of establishing a long-term communication system between the two sides and of continuing to explore new cooperation areas.
Tang Chao said that the responsibilities of all groups involved must be further clarified to increase construction efficiency and quality.
