After three years of construction, Freshhema's central China supply chain operation center was officially put into use on July 21 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

Freshhema is a new technology and data-driven retail platform that integrates the functions of supermarkets, restaurants and farmers' markets. It also combines online and on-site consumption to offer a one-stop community-oriented shopping experience.

Since its foundation in 2015, Freshhema has opened more than 300 stores in 27 cities in China. In 2018, it decided to start operating in WEDZ.

The supply chain operation center involved an investment of 1 billion yuan ($147.9 million), with the construction area exceeding 100,000 square meters. As a cold-chain processing, distribution, and storage center, it will also act as a central kitchen, which will accelerate the circulation of fresh products.

Liu Ziqing, secretary of WEDZ's working committee, hailed the opening of the center, expressing hope that Freshhema will expand its industrial layout in Wuhan and promote the innovation and upgrading of the retail industry. WEDZ will continue to improve relevant supporting facilities and optimize its business environment to support the company's business.

After it begins operating, the center is expected to transport local Hubei food, such as crayfish and lotus stems, to the rest of China.
