Wuhan Keqi Industrial Technology Co's new incubator, with a total investment of 20 million yuan ($2.96 million), is located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) and is expected to begin operating soon, according to local news reports on July 16.
The new incubator has a total area of more than 3,000 square meters and will be able to accommodate 30 to 50 innovative sci-tech companies.
Dongfeng Lear Automotive Seating Co, which is also based in WEDZ and carries out research on, manufactures, sells, and offers services related to automotive seats and their components, has applied many digital and intelligent systems and equipment of Keqi Tech to build its smart workshops, raising its overall efficiency by 10 percent and reducing labor costs by 30 percent.
In the past, Wuhan enterprises' intelligent production line demands could only be met by foreign companies or firms in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The whole process was long and costly, said Yao Liangjun, president of Keqi Tech, who added that now about 95 percent of intelligent transformation projects from WEDZ companies can be dealt with locally.
So far, Keqi Tech has participated in Dongfeng Honda, SAIC-GM and other renowned auto makers' intelligent transformation projects, and at the end of 2021, the firm ranked among Hubei's high-tech enterprises and provincial little giant companies.
By developing its digital economy, WEDZ has attracted a number of leading enterprises, including CEcloud and Datang Telecom Technology Co, focusing on industrial internet, autonomous driving, and auto chips.
