"Wuhan is a strong city and Gree has its own manufacturing base in the city. How can Gree preserve Wuhan's strength? I believe the most important thing is not to 'lie flat', but to do what we need to steadfastly," said Dong Mingzhu, president and chairman of Gree Electric Appliances Inc, at a municipal summer economic and trade program signing ceremony held recently in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province.
Highlighting her affection for Wuhan after visiting many other cities in China, Dong said the city boasts unique geography and a strong talent foundation. Many researchers of Gree based in Zhuhai are from universities in Wuhan. Meanwhile, Wuhan's strong business environment and considerate government services have supported enterprises' development.
Dong expressed her intention to further expand investment in Wuhan and her ambition to produce the best product the world has ever seen. In addition to household appliances, Gree's business in Wuhan will also include computer numerical control machine tools, precision molds, and robots.
Dong emphasized the necessity for real manufacturing enterprises to independently produce core components, have abundant talent teams, and have a large number of patents. "I am proud to say that about 16,000 researchers are from Chinese universities, because of our adherence to innovation and talent cultivation," said Dong.
She also encouraged Chinese entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and work to make made-in-China products respected among global consumers.
