Overcoming setbacks inflicted by the pandemic and impeded logistics, Wuhan Fangding Automotive Trim Co in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) successfully manufactured 1.2 million sets of automobile components, satisfying the demands of more than 10 domestic whole-car makers during the first half of this year, with its industrial output growing by 10 percent to 1.3 billion yuan ($194.22 million) year-on-year.
The company only registered 7 million yuan when it was founded in 2007, but by last year, its output had rose to 1.8 billion yuan, a 240-fold increase. In addition, it has ranked among Wuhan's top 100 manufacturers many times, and in 2021, it became a provincial little giant firm.
Capable of producing more than 1,200 types of auto spare parts, Wuhan Fangding Automotive Trim Co has been a long-term first-tier supplier for Dongfeng, BYD, Geely, and SANY.
Since March, many auto parts manufacturers based in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have suspended or reduced production, adding more pressure to the whole automobile supply chain. Many auto component providers in the WEDZ, including Wuhan Fangding Automotive Trim Co, have risen to the occasion to ensure the normal operation of the supply chain.
"In the first half of this year, we produced spare parts for 800,000 BYD new energy vehicles," said Feng Qiulin, manager of the firm's production department.
In 2020, when Wuhan was in the grip of the pandemic, the majority of auto spare parts manufacturers experienced two months of production suspension. Wuhan Fangding Automotive Trim Co was one of the first local companies to resume production and produced 90 sets of car doors in just five days for SANY.
The company continues to expand investment in technological innovation, and since 2017, it has collectively invested 70 million yuan in old workshop intelligentization, increasing the efficiency of production and new product R&D, creating a niche for the firm in the entire auto supply chain.
