The third generation of autonomous container trucks independently developed by Dongfeng's business car technology brand – Limitless Star – was recently put into use at a port in Xiamen.
The truck was seen at the port operating as expected and returning to its starting point after it reached the designated site. It is considered Dongfeng's first intelligent connected project that combines the functions of both vans and passenger vehicles.
The high-definition positioning system that integrates multiple sensors enables the truck to operate normally even with many obstacles in its way, including tall buildings.
The truck is also capable of closed-loop loading and unloading, and is expected to work around the clock, which will increase the stability, security and efficiency of port transportation work.
As a mature domestic auto giant, Dongfeng has been committed to becoming a leader in intelligent logistics and providing overall solutions for autonomous smart logistics. In May 2020, the company joined with China Mobile and China COSCO SHIPPING to release 5G smart port all-scenario demonstration applications.
Moving forward, Dongfeng will promote the large-scale production and application of its third-generation autonomous container trucks.
