An anti-flood drill was unveiled at 9:40 am on June 10 at Guanlian Lake in Junshan Street in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ). The drill emulated various rescue scenarios and featured many high-tech flood rescue facilities. The drill was meant to test the coordination of different rescue groups playing various roles.
The drill imitated a situation where Wuhan is suffering from continuous heavy rain, with roads damaged, people stuck, communications broken down, and dams destroyed.
Seven rescue teams, including those from the zone’s emergency management bureau, China Mobile, and social rescue groups participated in the drill. About 50 sets of anti-flood rescue facilities were used in rescue scenarios on lone islands, water, and post-disaster disinfection.
Amphibian automobiles managed to pull cars out of the lake, and the national emergency communication vehicles provided by China Mobile are able to support 4,000 people taking calls simultaneously.
