A provincial new energy vehicle (NEV) and intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industrial development matchmaking event kicked off on May 11 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
The meeting was attended by senior officials of Hubei province, the city of Wuhan, and the zone, as well as leaders from Dongfeng Motor Co, Neusoft Co, China Lithium Battery Technology Co, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co, and Wuhan Lotus Technology Co.
The matchmaking event is the first industrial promotion campaign held this year, and was designed to help Hubei set up its "51020" modern industrial clusters (including five one-trillion-yuan-level ($148.8 billion) backbone industries, ten 500-billion-yuan-level dominant sectors, and twenty 100-billion-yuan-level industrial clusters).
Fu Bingfeng, vice president of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, highlighted Hubei's status as an auto-manufacturing province with many automobile manufacturers above a designated size as well as multiple development model.
Liu Haijun, director of the provincial department of economy and information technology, along with relevant officials from the cities of Xiangyang, Yichang, Shiyan and Jingmen, introduced the NEV and ICV industries of their respective regions.
The introductions were followed by a signing ceremony for 30 key projects valued at 66.17 billion yuan, six of which involve auto spare parts supply, auto chip sensor production, autonomous driving R&D, and automobile superbrain development to be established in WEDZ.
