In the fourth group of 1,041 special and new little giant companies in Central China's Hubei province, 56 are based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
Special and new little giant firms are forerunners in their respective fields (usually very small ones). Wuhan Fanzhou Chuetsu Metal Co, a new little giant in WEDZ, for example, focuses on the research and manufacturing of high-strength and wear-resistant copper alloy materials that are mainly used in automobile and hydraulic industries.
The company has participated in the formulation of two national and three industrial standards, and possesses 21 invention patents and 40 utility model patents.
To date, WEDZ is home to four national little giants, 118 provincial little giants, and 142 municipal little giants.
