The Business Park in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) covers an area of 38 square kilometers, but has collected 78 percent of enterprises in the zone, including 26 Fortune 500 companies, six listed firms, 319 "Sishang" enterprises (referring to enterprises above a designated size in the industry, real estate, construction, wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering sectors), 102 financial institutions, and headquarters of 51 corporations.
Last year, the park saw its combined output value and revenue reach 160.7 billion yuan ($25.17 billion yuan), and it generated 7.02 billion yuan in tax revenue.
The park is also a sci-tech innovation hub, and home to 10 innovation areas, 14 sci-tech innovation platforms, 196 high-tech enterprises, 15 gazelle companies, and 89 little giant firms. More than 30,000 skilled workers are currently working in the park.
As a major engine of growth for WEDZ's modern service sector, the park is striving to be a model of industry-city integration under the leadership of the municipal and zone governments.
Aiming to build a modern industrial system at a higher level, WEDZ is expected to make breakthroughs in digital economy, modern services, and healthcare. The Business Park has taken the momentum and introduced a group of digital economy powerhouses, such as JDCloud, iFLYTEK and Neusoft.
In 2021, officials from the park launched more than 30 research trips throughout China, arranged and participated in over 40 business promotion activities, and recorded 23.45 billion yuan in contract turnover.
