Lotus, a world-renowned British sports car brand based in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), on March 30 launched its first all-electric Hyper-SUV – Eletre, which is considered a milestone for the company in becoming a high-end electric and intelligent vehicle brand.

Lotus Eletre will reportedly be mass-produced in the company's smart workshop in WEDZ, filling a void in super luxury cars in China. The production model has launched presales activities in the United Kingdom and other European countries. The first group of cars is expected to roll off the production line in 2023.

Eletre is the collective result of coordination between Lotus's research teams in China, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Sweden. It is capable of traveling 400 kilometers on a 20-minute charge, with a maximum distance of up to 600 km. In addition, it is also equipped with four laser radars, high-definition cameras and 4D millimeter-wave radars.

Construction started on Lotus's smart workshop in 2020, and it will be put into use in the fourth quarter of this year. It has an expected annual output of 150,000 automobiles, and will adopt 3D digital twin technologies and apply digital, intelligent, visualized, and flexible production approaches to achieve customized services.
