The result of the 2021 provincial business environment assessment was released by the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission on March 30. The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) was among the seven development zones selected for its outstanding performance in optimizing its business environment.
The locales honored for their business environment were Wuhan, Yichang, Xiangyang, Shiyan, and Enshi autonomous prefecture.
Last year, WEDZ continued its efforts to reform the delegation of power, streamline procedures and optimize government services, and has reduced documents needed for government review by more than five percent, while the average amount of time needed to handle government affairs has been reduced by 87 percent. Nearly 1,000 specific items can now be handled at the government service center in the zone.
The zone also ranks highly among the top 10 national development zones with the best commercial environments, according to a report released by the 21st Century Economic Research Institute.
