Chang Weiwei, head coach of the women's football club of Jianghan University, returned to Wuhan with six team members – Wang Shuang, Yao Wei, Wu Haiyan, Lou Jiahui, Liu Yanqiu, and Zhang Linyan. They visited Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on March 27.

The team shared their stories in the AFC Women's Asian Cup and envisaged the future of their Chinese women's football career. WEDZ rewarded the football club with a bonus of 1 million yuan ($157,300) for their outstanding performance on the football field.

China beat South Korea in the AFC Women's Asian Cup final on Feb 6 – a triumph the team had been waiting for for 16 years. Among the 23 team members, five are from the football club.

Using an integrated sports-education method, the club has fostered more than 10 female football players over the past 20 years.

The club's team won the top prize in the CFA Women's Super League the past two years in a row. The game this year will be held in Hainan. The team is expected to take the crown again and participate in the first Asian champions league to be organized in 2023 by the Asian Football Confederation.

The zone has pledged more efforts to optimize the environment for the high-quality development of local sports.
