A team led by Liu Ziqing, secretary of the working committee of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), and Tang Chao, president of the zone, launched a tree planting campaign on March 11 to celebrate International Arbor Day on March 12.
Team members arrived at the Shefa Mountain in Junshan New City and planted more than 300 cherry blossom trees and golden rain trees, which will become a flower admiring site for the zone next year.
On the afternoon of the same day, more than 120 zone officials, cadres of sub-districts administered by the zone, and local residents went to Junshan Road in Xintuan village and planted nearly 600 cherry blossom trees, osmanthus fragrans trees, red robin trees and ginkgo trees.
On March 10, a special tree adoption activity was arranged in Tanghu Lake Park, participated in by more than 60 citizens who were responsible for planting more than 50 trees. Specialists in botany and plants were also invited to the park to popularize knowledge about planting and pest and disease control.
