Lotus is a world-renowned British sports car brand. The first phase project of the smart manufacturing center of Lotus's global headquarter was launched on Feb 22 in Junshan New City in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

As the operator of the project, Wuhan Lotus Technology Co has inherited Lotus's 73 years of technology and experience in car research and manufacturing and aims to carve out a niche at the global market for its premium intelligent electric vehicles (EVs).

The first-phase project occupies a construction area of 147,000 square meters and has an accommodation capacity of more than 4,000 staff members. It is expected to begin operating in 2024.

The project will consist of Lotus's global operation and management headquarters and is responsible for the supply chain, global sales, and research and design of the company's EVs. Following concepts of sharing, interaction, high-efficiency, sustainability and smartness, the project will build office buildings, canteens, hotels, experience centers, and meeting rooms that feature multiple scenarios, humane designs, horizontal coordination, and cooperation without time differences.

Lotus's smart manufacturing workshop is reportedly located on Shamao Street in Hannan district, and the smart manufacturing center of Lotus's global headquarters is located in Junshan New City. The shortest distance between the two places is fewer than 15 kilometers and it takes just 20 minutes to drive between them.
