News from the natural resources and planning bureau of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) indicated that the zone will build seven more pocket parks to boost the physical fitness of residents.
A pocket park is a small outdoor space often located in an urban area surrounded by commercial buildings. A variety of facilities encouraging physical exercise were installed in the park for people to gather, relax, and enjoy the outdoors.
The six pocket parks established last year in the zone have gained increasing popularity among residents. The Weihu Lake Pocket Park has been selected as one of Hubei's top 50 demonstration pocket parks with gorgeous scenery.
The seven additional parks are said to be situated at the intersection of Haitang Road and North Taizihu Road, west of Fengshu Sixth Road, the coastal area of North Taizi Lake, Xinger Road of Hannan district, the intersection of Quanli First Road and Dongfeng Avenue, Shenlong Avenue and west of Checheng East Road.
WEDZ has been dedicated to making full use of its natural resources to push forward its green campaign and raise the living quality of residents over the past several years. In 2021, the zone invested 1.51 billion yuan ($238.13 million) to build 165.51 hectares of green space.
