On the first game day after the grand opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games held on Feb 4, five ice stadiums staged 3D digital light shows between sports events. The ice tracks and fields served as screens for the show.

The technology is supported by Wuhan Lingdian Vision Digital Technology Co based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

"It is really the company's honor to facilitate the technological side of the Winter Games," said Li Zhenbo, general manager of Lingdian Vision. This is the first time the company has rendered its services for the Winter Olympics.

Li, however, is a veteran at preparing for the games. He was engaged in the digital scenario construction of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. After the game, Li returned to Wuhan and founded Lingdian Vision.

In 2018, the company moved into the Digital Publishing Base of Huazhong Intelligent Valley and now boasts more than 70 staff members.

"In the field of digital graphics, our technology and research team ranks among the best in the world," Li said. Lingdian Vision also made the dynamic digital version of Riverside Scene for Qingming Festival – a panoramic painting drawn by Zhang Zeduan, an artist from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) – during the Shanghai World Expo.
