A commencement ceremony for first-quarter projects in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, was held on Jan 18, with the main venue set in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ). The event was attended and addressed by officials of the Wuhan municipal people's government.
A total of 23 major projects with 58.5 billion yuan ($9.18 billion) in investment were launched during the ceremony, including 11 in advanced manufacturing, eight in modern services, and four in social welfare and infrastructure.
Dongfeng Motor's high-end new energy off-road vehicle project stood out from the pack. It will be Dongfeng's second new energy auto brand after Voyah. The firm will establish its smart manufacturing center, road testing vases, headquarters and exhibition center in the zone. The first phase of the project is scheduled to begin operating in 2023 and is expected to produce 100,000 vehicles annually.
