The official operation of Wuhan's Metro Line 16 has shortened the distance between the city's central districts, Hannan district and Junshan New City. Meanwhile, the unbalanced regional development issue in Zhuankou sub-district, Junshan New City and Shamao sub-district will be addressed, as the metro line is facilitating the flow of capital, talent and projects of all kinds.
Hannan district is 30 kilometers away from Wuhan's central districts. Surrounded by the Yangtze River, the district enjoys fertile lands that are suitable for the cultivation of sweet maize, watermelons and other special agricultural products.
Since 2014, WHDZ has been in charge of administering the district, raising the overall development of Hanan in terms of social mechanisms, industries, city construction, welfare, and ecosystems. Hannan's image has been transformed due to its vastly improved infrastructure.
The integration between WHDZ and Hannan has brought new growth momentum to the district, with the Port of Hannan recognized as a national Class-A waterway port. The port now boasts an annual container throughput of more than 1 million, and about 1.5 million vehicles are transported in and out of Wuhan via the port every year.
