Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) has been devoted to Hubei's prosperity by coordinating efforts with other places in the province.
In January 2014, the zone was assigned to administer Hannan district of Wuhan. Since then, the zone has achieved integrated development with the district in governance models, industries, city development and ecological construction. A new way of achieving rural modernization has been developed and popularized nationwide.
WHDZ also founded the Xintan economic and cooperation area with Honghu city. The area has become the zone's ninth industrial park that cumulatively has introduced 157 projects with nearly 50 billion yuan investments, and features three pillar sectors – automobile spare parts, environment-friendly new materials, and pharmaceutical chemicals.
Along with the Wuhan-Yichang Expressway and Wuhan-Xiaogan Expressway, the zone's advanced manufacturing sector has extended to Xiantao, Qianjiang and Hanchuan.
For example, Hubei Dinglong Holdings Co – a firm engaged in the research and development, production and service of integrated circuit chip design and manufacturing process materials, photoelectric display materials, printing, and copying general consumables, has deployed its researching unit in the auto valley, and its production and supporting bases in Qianjiang.
In addition, the zone has also begun cooperating with Suizhou – China's capital of special vehicles – in new energy and new materials.
