News from Dec 12 suggested that the 4.47-kilometer-long Changshan section of Xingcheng Avenue has opened to the public, allowing residents to drive directly to the Wuhan-Jianli Expressway.
Upcoming renovations on the avenue include widening the road from eight to 10 lanes in both directions from the Doubu Avenue – Xingqi Road section and the establishment of seven pedestrian overcrossings.
The entire renovation project is 10.32 kms long, and is expected to be completed in autumn next year. The improved avenue will ease local traffic congestion, optimize the transportation system around the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, and make it easier for locals to commute.
