A research team led by Cui Chenglie, president of the Greater China Branch of LG Chem Co, visited the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Nov 24.

As a subsidiary of LG Group, LG Chem is an international firm based in South Korea that excels in three areas – petrochemicals, advanced materials, and life science. It also leads the world in auto power cells, display polarizers, and energy storage cells. After 40 years of exploration in China, the company has established 10 workshops and two technology centers in Ningbo, Tianjin, and other places in the country. By 2020, LG Chem had invested $7.7 billion in China, with total sales reaching $10.5 billion.

In a special session held for the visit, Liu Ziqing, director of WHDZ's working committee, emphasized the close relationships between Wuhan and South Korea in economy and trade, and encouraged LG Chem to invest and set up operations in the zone.

Cui gave a briefing on the company's layout and expressed his intention to expand investment in China, looking forward to potential collaboration opportunities with the zone.
