A list of Wuhan top 10 smart workshops was released on Nov 21 after two months of assessments. The workshops of three companies based at the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co, Dongfeng Lear Automotive Seating Co, and Midea Group Wuhan Refrigeration Equipment Co – made the list.
As a large-scale industrial manufacturer in Hubei province, Dongfeng Honda has boasted an annual output of over 100 billion yuan ($15.66 billion) for more than three years in a row. The company also has independent R&D centers and workshops for advanced crafts.
Adopting green technologies to reduce carbon emissions, the company's No 3 Workshop produces a car every 50.1 seconds.
Founded in 2004, Midea Group Wuhan Refrigeration Equipment Co is Midea's biggest air-conditioner manufacturing base in China. It was selected as an intelligent manufacturing demonstration unit by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology back in 2016. The company also possesses the world's most intelligent assembly line for air conditioner external units.
