More than 100 online media chief editors from across China were invited to take self-driving buses and embark on a tour to the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Oct 20.

They set off at the autonomous driving-themed scenic area at Longling Mountain, which is the first of its kind in China and a testing ground for more than 10 types of self-driving cars.

"This is my first time taking a self-driving bus, it feels so magical," said Zhang Yuliang, one editor of the media group.

The zone currently has 106 kilometers of smart roads, and there are 10,000 vehicles participating in the vehicle-to-everything application.

After visiting Chunsun, the zone's new landmark building, the media group entered a workshop of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co. "I am shocked by the production line of the company, the high level of intelligence embodies how the digital economy empowers the manufacturing sectors," said Gong Guo, an editor from Chongqing municipality.

The group also visited Tanghu Lake Cultural Palace, which consists of a theater, library, and art gallery.
