Some 30 enterprises, including Jingchu Youpin Technology Co, have been introduced to settle in the JD Smart City (Wuhan) Innovation Center, in a move to boost the regional digital economy, according to local media reports.
The JD innovation center, located in South Taizihu Innovation Valley in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), aims at conducting in-depth cooperation with the WHDZ in areas such as smart city, cloud computing, big data, and the digital economy.
In recent years, the WHDZ has seized the opportunity of industrial transformation, vigorously promoted the growth of its digital industry, and accelerated the development of a digital economy innovation demonstration zone.
With a focus on the automobile and electronic appliance manufacturing industries, the innovation valley focuses on the development of intelligent networked vehicles and smart factory designs.
It aims to develop a public innovation service platform for industry 4.0 digital manufacturing technology.
It also plans to cultivate 1,000 innovative entities and realize an economic output value of 100 billion yuan ($15.4 billion).
Over the next five years, the innovation valley will successively build industrial innovation centers such as a key intelligent manufacturing technology headquarters R&D base, a cloud data technology center, and an innovative design city, as well as high-end business hotels, apartments for top talents and other supporting facilities.
So far, the JD Smart City (Wuhan) Innovation Center has launched projects such as the Jingchehui, JD 7Fresh, and JD Live Service Center in WHDZ.
According to the center's officials, the next step will be to fully promote the continuous implementation of JD's e-commerce, logistics, finance, and technology sectors, and fully promote the online economic industry upgrade of automobiles, industrial products, and agricultural products in the WHDZ.
