The China Urban-Rural headquarters economy industrial park is currently under construction at the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone or WHDZ − located in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province – and when complete, it is expected to power up the industrial upgrade of the entire area.
Located on Guanhu Road, the industrial park is a project jointly being undertaken by the Wuhan municipal government and China Communications Construction Company Limited, or CCCC.
It is another major project by CCCC in the WHDZ, following the relocation of the headquarters of China Urban and Rural Holding Group (China Urban-Rural) − a unit of the company − in the zone in 2018.
Being built in two phases with a total investment of 7.4 billion yuan ($1.15 billion), the park is scheduled to be finished in 2024. It will focus on five core industries: the headquarters sector, as well as the health, environmental protection, industrial and financial services and technology industries.
Designed as the first fully 5G-covered smart park in Central China, the park will boast 5A Grade A office buildings, single garden-style office buildings, commercial streets, scientific and technological innovation bases, apartments and high-end residential areas.
After completion, in addition to the headquarters of China Urban-Rural, a group of national or regional corporate headquarters and leading enterprises will settle in the industrial park. It is expected to become the central business district of the WHDZ and a new business calling card for the headquarters economy.
In recent years, the WHDZ has been striving for industrial upgrading and high-quality development − promoting digital, networked and the intelligent development of its traditional manufacturing industry.
Under the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the zone aims to establish three demonstration zones for modern industrial innovation, green development and industry-city integration − as well as a powerful, dynamic and vibrant automotive manufacturing hub.
After three decades of development, the WHDZ has been ranked first among the national-level development zones in the central and western regions of China, in terms of its comprehensive strength. It has attracted well-known domestic companies such as Dongfeng Motor, Dongfeng Honda, and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company and in addition is home to 73 Fortune Global 500 companies.
The industrial park is reportedly a high-quality benchmark project under construction by a unit of CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co Ltd. A smart construction internet of things, or IoT, management and control platform is being introduced during the construction process − adopting 5G, the IoT, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies.
According to a company official, the industrial park has attracted a large number of groups who have shown interest in locating operations there, including Beijing OriginWater Technology Co and the Cloud Computing Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The company plans to use the project as an engine for the industry-city integrated development of the WHDZ and as a new urban landmark, added the official.
