Progress has been marked in the automobile industry in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, or WHDZ – located in Wuhan city, capital of Central China's Hubei province – with the Huawei (Wuhan) Intelligent Networking Industry Innovation Center established in the zone on June 21.
The new facility marks the third intelligent network industry innovation center established by Huawei in China.
The innovation center will rely on a smart car cloud platform, applications innovation incubation platform, industry aggregation development platform, as well as a scientific research innovation and personnel training platform.
This is expected to accurately match the actual needs of companies, so as to advance the development of intelligent-networked vehicles in the development zone.
The WHDZ plans to work closely with Huawei Technologies Co to boost development in the intelligent connected vehicle, or ICV industry, following a cooperation agreement signed on Jan 28 this year.
Under the agreement, the two parties will carry out technological innovation and standard research and development around the coordinated development of smart cars and smart cities in WHDZ.
In addition, the two will aim to attract more upstream and downstream businesses to settle in the development zone, expand and strengthen the auto sector's industrial chain, as well as promote the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry.
The ICV industry is reportedly one of the key industries of the WHDZ.
Taking the new center as a golden opportunity for developing the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, the WHDZ has moved to enrich and improve the entire new energy and intelligent-connected vehicle industry supply chain.
So far, over 30 ICV projects have been signed by the WHDZ and a number of ICV leading enterprises and platforms projects – such as the Dongfeng Autonomous Driving Pilot Project – have been introduced to the zone.
