As of May 6, a total of 349,547 COVID-19 vaccine shots had been received by residents of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, lifting the vaccine coverage rate to 77.85 percent, according to local media reports.

The development zone's vaccine coverage rate ranks first in Wuhan city.

According to the calculation of the new "coronavirus transmission coefficient", the formation of an immune barrier in the population generally requires about 70 to 80 percent of people to be vaccinated.

At present, according to data produced by researchers monitoring the frequency of abnormal reactions to these injections, the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine is good, and it has lower incidences of abnormal reactions than similar vaccines used during the previous immunization program.

To ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the vaccination work, WHDZ has set up vaccination stations across the zone.

Also, since Wuhan fully launched its COVID-19 vaccination work on March 12 this year, WHDZ has provided door-to-door vaccination services for large enterprises, communities, business districts, and universities in its jurisdiction, with more than 65,000 people inoculated.
