Construction on 12 major projects with a total investment of 30.76 billion yuan ($4.74 billion) began in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, following a launch ceremony held on April 19.
The projects are in fields such as the digital economy, new energy vehicles, and rehabilitation medical centers.
Of the total, there are seven advanced manufacturing projects with a total investment of 16.84 billion yuan; two modern service industry projects with a total investment of 6.2 billion yuan; and three other projects with a total investment of 7.72 billion yuan.
The Tongji International Rehabilitation Medical Center Project, covering an area of 90,000 square meters, will have 800 to 1,000 beds.
The new facility will include an International Rehabilitation Medical Center, a Rehabilitation Training Center, a Rehabilitation Equipment Research Center and a Rehabilitation Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.
Integrating the most advanced research results into clinical treatment will help provide superior support for patients throughout the course of their condition.
At the same time, improvements in production, education and research are expected to help drive the development of the rehabilitation equipment manufacturing industry.
IFLYTEK Co is to develop its Central China headquarters, an artificial intelligence research institute, and an artificial intelligence industry acceleration center in WHDZ.
According to iFLYTEK officials, the company plans to build its Central China headquarters within three years. It will employ 3,000 people and create an output value exceeding 1 billion yuan.
