WHDZ to add Xpeng Motors' smart manufacturing base

The Xpeng Motor's Wuhan Intelligent Connected Automobile Manufacturing Base and R&D Center project is to settle in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, following a cooperation agreement signed on April 8, according to local media reports.

According to the agreement, the project covers an area of approximately 1,100 mu (73 hectares), and will result in the construction of a vehicle and powertrain plant. The planned production capacity of the vehicle project is 100,000 vehicles.

Headquartered in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, Xpeng Motors is one of China's leading smart electric vehicle companies.

It has R&D centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Silicon Valley and San Diego.

In order to optimize its users' travel experience, Xpeng Motors independently researches and develops full-stack autonomous driving technology and intelligent voice-driven on-board operating systems, as well as core vehicle systems including power systems and electrical and electronic architectures.

In March this year, Xpeng Motors delivered a total of 5,102 units, an increase of 130 percent month-on-month and 384 percent year-on-year. Its monthly delivery volume has doubled year-on-year for nine consecutive months.

The total delivery volume in the first quarter of this year reached 13,340 units, setting a new record in the company’s history.
