Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, has been selected as one of the 15 National Demonstration Cities for Culture and Tourism Consumption, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on April 1.
In recent years, Wuhan has actively explored new models of "policy-guided" expansion of its culture and tourism consumption.
In March, the Wuhan Cultural and Tourism Investment Promotion Conference was held. A total of 38 projects were signed, with a total investment of 160.91 billion yuan ($24.52 billion).
In recent years, Wuhan has issued policies to guide effective investment in the cultural and tourism market, fostering new supplies for the cultural and tourism industry.
The city offers nearly 200 million yuan in special funds for cultural and tourism industry development every year, and rewards investment projects in the sector.
In the past three years, 30 key tourism projects have been completed and put into use, and the city has added one national global tourism demonstration zone, five 4A scenic spots, and 10 high-end hotels.
Wuhan provides policy rewards for the introduction of high-quality cultural performances by theaters, and continues to hold large-scale cultural festivals such as Qintai Music Festival, Wuhan International Acrobatic Festival, and Chinese Opera Art Festival.
Data shows that in 2020, the city's cultural enterprises above designated scale achieved an operating income of 209.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.6 percent.
