Li Jianming, deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China, recently went to the Wuhan International Sports Culture Exchange Center to visit the ice-sports center which is under construction in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ).
Li encouraged the WHDZ government to build a first-class gymnasium that boasts one-stop services to meet the multiple needs of the city's sports lovers.
According to a staff member at the Wuhan International Sports Culture Exchange Center, the ice-sports center was formerly the main media center for the 7th Military World Games. Now it is going to be Central China's largest multi-functional standardized rink, with top-class facilities, and covering an area of 1,800 square meters.
The center will be equipped with advanced ice-making facilities and a smart light and temperature control system.
The main part of the center will be suitable for ice sports such as ice hockey, short-track speed skating, and figure skating, and will hopefully be open to the public in mid-April.
