Tan Minqiang, an employee at auto manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Corporation, will attend the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress held in Beijing on March 5, and has prepared four suggestions focusing on the development of the automobile industry and on using automobile industry technology to serve other fields.
Independent control of key core technologies and making the Dongfeng brand bigger and stronger has always been the focus of Tan Minqiang's attention as a deputy to the National People's Congress, and it is also the focus of his work as the director of the Dongfeng Technical Center.
Under Tan's leadership, the technical center constantly upgrades its development plan with a global perspective, centering on the overall strategic requirements of the country and of Dongfeng.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the technology center made major breakthroughs in autonomous vehicles, traditional and new energy core powertrains, electronic and electrical architecture, and next-generation mobile travel service platforms.
"In the field of intelligent networked vehicles, Dongfeng has moved relatively quickly in the industry," said Tan Minqiang. "For example, the establishment of Dongfeng Yuexiang Technology Co and the application of various low-speed electric vehicle schemes has been promoted in several cities."
Dongfeng Yuexiang Technology Co was registered in December 2020. The commercialization of the Sharing-VAN has been achieved - an important step in the R&D transformation of the technical center.
Over the next two to three years, the technical center will put more than 200 Robotaxis into the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone in order to establish a nationwide autonomous driving demonstration fleet with the most vehicles, most varied scenarios, and most advanced technology, and to aid the development of large-scale smart travel services.
