Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, hosted its first offline recruitment fair for 2021 on Feb 19, attracting the participation of more than 30 companies offering 2,400 jobs, according to the official WHDZ WeChat account.
The job fair attracted more than 800 job seekers. After on-site exchanges and negotiations, 479 people reached employment intentions.
The jobs offered at the event covered industries in different fields such as auto parts and the services sector.
Job seekers wearing masks scanned their health codes to enter the venue. Event staff members registered them at the entrance and took body temperature measurements.
After the Spring Festival holiday period, as all enterprises began to resume work and production, WHDZ faced a labor shortage of about 20,000 people.
To boost employment, the WHDZ human resources bureau plans to organize offline job fairs on a more regular basis.
Officials said the zone expects to host a total of 14 events, and implement targeted recruitment drives focusing on special groups such as "land-lost" farmers and women.
