Wuhan Haier Refrigerator Co plans to set up a production and education integration center in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Central China's Hubei province, with a framework agreement signed with Hubei Land Resources Vocational College on Jan 6, according to local media reports.
The center will focus on cultivating innovative and start-up programs, as well as promoting the further integration of education, industry, and innovation chains.
Occupying an area of 240 square meters, the center has received investment of over 2 million yuan ($300,000) and will be completed by the second half of 2021. Five functional zones will be set up, including an area which will serve as a maker space.
Haier will send professional teams, along with faculty members from Hubei Land Resources Vocational College, to participate in teaching programs, in which students will be able to put what they have learned in the classroom into practice.
The center is just the first phase of our partnership. We plan to go further and deeper in other areas, such as developing our faculty staff and taking part in industry-university-research projects, said Zhou Xiaodong, general manager of Wuhan Haier Refrigerator Co.
