A new store featuring some 200 Hubei agricultural products opened on Dec 28 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province -- according to local media reports.

The WHDZ store -- which aims to help reduce the region's poverty -- boasts agriproducts from Shiyan city, Enshi autonomous prefecture, Yichang city and the Shennongjia Forestry District.

Officials said a special 24-hour smart counter has been set up in the store, so that customers can choose their favorite products simply and quickly by scanning QR codes.

In addition, the store is also an O2O experience venue. As well as buying products in the store, customers can also place orders online. The store provides free delivery services within five kilometers.

The store is the 31st in Wuhan and the first in WHDZ specifically targeting poverty alleviation.

Another store of its kind is expected to start operating in the WHDZ in March.

Officials estimated that from 2020 to 2021, 880 smart counters will be established in the  WHDZ.

They said the counters will be placed in office buildings, communities, shopping malls and other places in the development zone.

These will provide residents with integrated online and offline services and offer agricultural products that will go a long way towards helping defeat poverty.
