The fifth session of the ninth CPPCC Hannan Committee kicked off on Dec 23 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ or Hannan) -- located in Wuhan city, in Central China's Hubei province -- according to local media reports.
During the session, local CPPCC members offered suggestions on the WHDZ's economic and social development, as well as on improving the lifestyles of residents in the zone.
Peng Hao, member of the CPC Wuhan Standing Committee and Party secretary of Hannan, reviewed the efforts and progress made by the CPPCC Hannan Committee in 2020.
Peng also noted that 2021 is the starting year of China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) and is also a key year for Hannan's quality development -- urging joint efforts be made by CPPCC members to further boost the zone's economic and social growth.
According to the government work report tabled by Peng Xuning, chairman of the CPPCC Hannan Committee, the committee has focused on epidemic control, economic and social development and construction of a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, actively performed its functions, improved people's livelihoods and contributed to the zone's development.
For next year, the committee plans to continue to promote Hannan's quality development, play its role as a political advisory body, create an atmosphere of unity and democracy, propel reform and innovation and enhance self-construction.
