Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, has recorded growth in its industrial economy and has various major industrial projects underway, according to local media reports.

In the fourth quarter of this year, the main economic indicators of the development zone showed a strong upward momentum. In November, it achieved a total industrial output value of 35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.4 percent.

In the first 10 months of this year, WHDZ ranked second in the city in an assessment of key economic indicators. Among them, the zone ranked first citywide in terms of fixed asset investment, the added value of its service industry, actual funds in place for investment promotion and actual use of foreign capital. It also ranked second in terms of industrial investment.

As one of the major industrial groups in Hubei province, all three Dongfeng Honda factories in the WHDZ had resumed work and production and were operating at full capacity by the end of April.

Officials said their production capacity had returned to more than 3,000 vehicles per day and a new car was rolling off the production line every 50 seconds on average.

Between January and November, Dongfeng Honda sold 736,000 vehicles.

The Dongfeng Yunfeng project, developed by major automaker Dongfeng Motor Co, is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 300,000 units after it is put into operation.

It will produce internationally competitive products including cars, SUVs, and new energy vehicles. The products will be equipped with the latest technologies, including advanced electric motor control, power battery and vehicle control systems, "internet of vehicles" technology and autonomous driving.

The project is expected to be completed in early February next year, when the commissioning and production of models will begin.

The Geely project, located in WHDZ, is expected to be completed and put into production by the end of 2021. This will be able to achieve a production capacity of 150,000 high-end new energy vehicles.
