Dongfeng to cooperate with State Grid in NEV development

Auto manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Co, located in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, is set to work with State Grid to promote new energy vehicles (NEVs) and energy network industry development, following a strategic cooperation agreement signed on Nov 26, according to local media reports.

Dongfeng Motor Co regards the development of NEVs as a major part of its corporate strategic transformation and has launched an electric vehicle brand - Voyah.

Voyah has recently made good progress towards the development of its first vehicles, with the first "body-in-white" (BIW) of its medium and large high-end smart electric SUVs rolling off the assembly line on Nov 6.

The BIW is the stage in production where a car body's frame has been joined together, prior to painting and before the engine, chassis sub-assemblies or trim have been integrated into the structure.

On Nov 25, Voyah's pre-production medium and large high-end smart electric SUV models rolled off the assembly line.

The car model will be launched and delivered to customers during the third quarter of 2021.

State Grid actively implements the national energy strategy, fully serving and promoting the development of the new energy automobile industry.

At present, a fast-charging network of "10 verticals, 10 horizontals and two ring roads" has been established, covering 171 cities and more than 50,000 kilometers of expressways, effectively guaranteeing the long-distance travel of EVs.

State Grid has also realized the development - and first application - of a number of key charging and swapping technologies such as V2G, high-power charging, and orderly charging.

It has developed the world's largest and most extensive smart car networking platform to provide charging travel services for 4.8 million EVs.
