Construction work began on two major transport projects in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 7, according to local media reports.

The Wuhan City Circle Grand Corridor project is a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation project in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and is a key part of promoting the development of the Wuhan Urban Circle and the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

The project is about 360 kilometers long and runs through 11 counties and districts in five cities, including Wuhan, Ezhou, Huanggang, Xiaogan, and Xianning. It is planned to be fully completed during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) and will create a one-hour commuter circle within the Wuhan Metropolitan Area.

The Wuhan Baili Yangtze River Ecological Corridor project, under the premise of the protection of the Yangtze River, will pursue a high degree of harmony between the city and the landscape, and strive to highlight the characteristics of the riverside city.

The project covers a total length of 170 km along the Yangtze River and Han River. Upon completion, the project will fundamentally solve the problems of breakpoints, empty spots and blind spots in the existing waterfront space in Wuhan.
