A total of eight scientific and technological commercialization projects with a value of 21.16 million yuan ($3.22 million) are to be developed in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, following a set of agreements signed on Nov 26, according to local media reports.

The agreements were signed at the 2020 Wuhan Science and Technology Achievement Commercialization Series Activities - Wuhan Institutes of Advanced Technology Special Activities.

The event also saw roadshows conducted by six of the projects, including a genome intelligent breeding system project developed by the Wuhan Greenfafa Institute of Novel Genechip R&D Co.

The genome intelligent breeding system project focuses on developing a high-density gene chip specially designed for cultivating green and high-quality varieties carrying important functional genes. It is a genome-wide breeding chip design and also a gene fingerprint database, which shortens the breeding period from 8-10 years to 2-3 years.
