The first phase of 100,000 square meters of smart greenhouses, part of the Evergrande Smart Agricultural Science and Technology Park project, will be put into trial operation in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, by the end of this year.
In January 2021, all 300,000 sq m of the smart greenhouses will be completed and put into production. The main functional area of the project will begin to take shape, and the supporting construction of cold chain storage and logistics facilities will also be started.
Total investment in the Evergrande Smart Agricultural Science and Technology Park project is about 40 billion yuan ($6.09 billion), of which the total investment in the agricultural tourism sector is about 8 billion yuan.
The project is split in five functional areas: a smart greenhouse high-tech agricultural demonstration area, a modern high-standard field demonstration area, an agricultural product processing and logistics area, an agricultural tourism demonstration area, and a modern urban health care area.
The project is focusing on the construction of 27,000 mu (1,800 hectares) of high-standard modern fields, 300,000 square meters of smart greenhouses, 5,000 sq m of modern agricultural centers, 150 mu of modern agricultural processing and manufacturing centers and 1,100 mu of leisure and sightseeing agriculture.
The 300,000-sq m smart greenhouse, with a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan, will introduce world-class automatic control technology, and will be equipped with 18 intelligent systems such as a water and fertilizer integration system, temperature and humidity intelligent control system, automatic light supplement system, and rainwater recycling system.
The project will achieve all-weather, all-season production, high automation, high yield and high efficiency, and create a benchmark for the development of the domestic smart greenhouse industry.
