The largest prefabricated steel structure industrial base in Central China is expected to go into trial run in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, in 2021, according to local media reports.
The Wuhan Fuxing Precision Prefabricated Steel Structure Industrial Base, with an investment of 1.56 billion yuan ($238 million), will build a large-scale, professional automated assembly R&D and production base with an extensive product range, elite technological developments and full patent coverage.
Also, an R&D team (academician workstation) and a design institute will be established at the base.
At present, 50 percent of the project’s foundation and pipe network have been completed, 80 percent of the main steel structure installation has been completed, and the installation of the enclosure has begun.
Upon being put into operation, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of nearly 4 billion yuan and provide 1,000 job opportunities.
Compared with concrete prefabricated buildings, steel structure prefabricated buildings can meet the requirements of high assembly rate, as well as ensure reasonable structural force transmission and reliable connection.
Steel structure is a natural prefabricated building with the advantages of "light, fast, good, and economical", and is widely used in large-scale factories, venues, and super high-rise fields.
Previously, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued relevant documents clearly stated that by 2020, the proportion of prefabricated buildings in the country to new buildings will reach more than 15 percent; and in the key areas for promotion, the figure will reach more than 20 percent.
Data shows that since this year, WHDZ has completed 786,200 square meters of newly built prefabricated buildings and completed 157.2 percent of the annual target of 500,000 square meters, ranking first among in Wuhan city.
