An outdoor rock climbing base is to be constructed in Wuhan Sports Center in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, according to local media reports.

After completion, it will be able to host Olympic rock climbing trials, as well as rock climbing training and national fitness events.

Wuhan Sports Center was the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the recent 7th CISM Military World Games, held in October 2019.

After the renovation, Wuhan Sports Center will form a high-quality comprehensive fitness venue integrating an ice rink, rock climbing base, outdoor basketball court, and indoor and outdoor tennis courts. Add to that soccer, table tennis, swimming, badminton, and fencing, and residents will have more choices for keeping fit.
