The employment situation in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, continued to improve in the third quarter of 2020, with three major indicators - active recruitment companies, recruitment positions and active job applicants - steadily rebounding, according to a report recently released by the city's human resources and social security bureau.

The report shows that as of September 2020, among the 15 key industries monitored, four industries have achieved positive year-on-year growth in the number of recruitment companies.

Among them, the number of recruitment companies in education, transportation, warehousing and postal services, wholesale and retail industries maintained a growth rate of about 10 percent compared with the previous quarter.

In the grassroots job market, as of September, the number of companies recruiting various blue-collar jobs and the scale of recruiting positions are picking up. The pressure on the blue-collar job market in various job categories is gradually relenting.

In the first three quarters of this year, the number of jobs posted by small, medium and micro enterprises with less than 500 employees in Wuhan accounted for about 80 percent of market recruitment.

Starting from the second quarter, the number of recruited positions began to pick up. Companies with 500 to 999 employees have been able to reduce risks and the number of recruited positions has rebounded rapidly. Since August, the number of published positions has achieved a positive year-on-year increase.

From the perspective of recruitment salary standards, the recruitment salary standards in the first three quarters maintained steady growth, with a year-on-year increase of some 6 percent.

The analysis of the report pointed out that since the beginning of the third quarter, Wuhan city's economy has clearly recovered, and the number of recruitments by more companies has returned to the level of the same period last year.

Also, the human resources and social security departments at municipal and district level have launched various recruitment drives, which have effectively strengthened the connection between supply and demand. The number of active job seekers has gradually decreased and the employment situation has gradually improved.
