The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan city, in Central China's Hubei province -- is planning to establish an automotive intelligence research institute, while leveraging efforts to promote its high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
These were advanced by Xiong Youlun, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
According to Xiong, the WHDZ has a solid manufacturing base and rich potential. If a professional research institute were established, it would build on existing industries and expand the advantages the zone already possesses.
The development zone is currently promoting the upgrading of its automobile and parts industry, accelerating progress towards digitalization, networking and intelligence.
Previously, Wuhan issued the Academicians and Experts Lead the Ten High-end Industry Development Action Plan (2020-2025). This aims to map out and lead the development of Wuhan's high-end industries.
