Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, continues to make progress in its industrial economy, according to local media reports.

Since the beginning of the fourth quarter, WHDZ-based auto manufacturer Dongfeng Honda’s monthly output has hit a record high.

At present, in the assembly workshop of Dongfeng Honda's third plant in WHDZ, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the machines as they work at full capacity, there are dedicated personnel responsible for special daily duties to ensure the stable running of production equipment.

A brand new Dongfeng Honda CR-V car model rolls off the assembly line every 47.6 seconds.

Since mid-September of this year, Dongfeng Honda's three plants have been running at full capacity, producing 3,800 vehicles annually, which is the highest daily production capacity of Dongfeng Honda since its establishment 17 years ago.

In October, Dongfeng Honda produced 81,800 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 30.4 percent.

In November, Dongfeng Honda plans to produce 97,700 vehicles in total.

A household central air-conditioning production plant for electrical appliance manufacturing giant Midea Group is to be built in the development zone, following an agreement signed on Nov 6.

The plant will cost 800 million yuan ($120.64 million) and begin ramping up production in 2021, achieving an annual output value of 10-12 billion yuan after reaching full production capacity.

The project will apply advanced automation technology, information technology and intelligent logistics technology to turn the Wuhan facility into an intelligent factory that is compliant with the industrial internet.

In addition, construction work on seven major projects from emerging industries has begun in the zone with a groundbreaking ceremony held on Oct 27.

The seven projects, covering strategic emerging areas such as the digital economy, new energy, next-generation automotive general aviation, and the modern service industry, have attracted a total investment of 25.1 billion yuan.
