The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- is to further expand its education resources, with a total of 19,000 primary and secondary school enrollment places for students to be added within five years, according to local media reports.

During the period, the proportion of children enrolled in public welfare inclusive kindergartens -- public and private kindergartens in the WHDZ -- is expected to remain above 80 percent, with public kindergartens accounting for more than 50 percent.

The development zone plans to accelerate the improvement of conditions in small  schools in rural areas – achieving basic parity with conditions for running schools in urban and rural areas. In addition, the WHDZ will strengthen its classification guidance for ordinary high schools and encourage the development of specialization by high schools.

At the same time, the zone will actively create a more open and international education program and vigorously introduce and develop high-quality private education.

It will introduce international and domestic brand education resources. This will support the Wuhan Jingkai Foreign Language School's accelerated construction and development. Plans are that in about five years, it will be a national top brand school with international vision and distinctive characteristics.

Taking the opportunity of Wuhan's development as a smart education center in Central China, WHDZ will expand smart education throughout the entire zone at a high level. It will do so by integrating new technologies -- such as cloud computing, big data, the internet of things and artificial intelligence -- with education, teaching and education management.
